The test is held not only in Japan but also in major cities around the world, including Asia and Europe.
If you take the test in Japan, apply through MyJLPT. For 2026 in Japan, the first application period is 2026/3/17 to 4/7 17:00, and the second is 2026/8/17 to 9/7 17:00.

For N4, you must meet the required scores not only for the total score but also for Language Knowledge (Characters, Vocabulary, Grammar) and Reading, and Listening.

The passing standard is a total score of 90 or higher, Language Knowledge (Characters, Vocabulary, Grammar) and Reading 38 or higher, and Listening 19 or higher.
